Housing &Water Program
On October 4-6 2016, Hurricane Matthew hit the island of Haiti with force and destruction that have been the worst in memory. Jeannette and many other villages located in the Municipality of Paillant in the Southern region has greatly damaged by that catastrophe. The media has omitted to include that Municipality in their reports and neither the humanitarian groups nor the authorities have turned toward these people. They have been abandoned and forgotten.
Hope and Change for Haiti (HnC) has been working with a local leaders in the municipality of Paillant to bring assistance and dignity to that population. We help those whose homes have been destroyed by hurricane Matthew to rebuild cheaper and better.
Build Better - Build Cheaper is our construction program that includes building permanent houses anti-earthquake and hurricane-resistant for homeless residents in the municipality of Paillant.
A cistern of 15000 gallons of water is built alongside of new houses. As raining season goes from May to November, water is caught and drained from the roof using a PVC pipe to the cistern, so family can have access to water in the dry season.
Every dollar goes 100% to the materials needed to build the cisterns & houses from foundation to the roof. Labors is the contribution from the local community.
