Happy Holidays from Hope and Change

December 24, 2018

Dear friend,

On behalf of our Board of Directors and people in Paillant-Haiti, I would like to wish you and your family a HAPPY HOLIDAY season.

One way or another, you have greatly contributed in helping Hope and Change for Haiti reaches its 2018 goals. For that, I would like to sincerely thank you. May the Magic and the wonder of the holiday season stay with you throughout the coming year.

Contributions from our supporters come on different ways:

- You donate to us
- You talk about us with others
- You connect us with donors/funders and collaborators
- You fundraise for us
- You collaborate with us
- You partner with us
- You join us as member or volunteer
- You invite us to talk to your group about our work in Haiti
- You attend our events
- You like our social media pages
- You like our posts
- You share our page and posts with your contacts

For all of these, I just want to say 'THANK YOU". Thanks for your generosity and enthusiasm. We are truly grateful!

Thanks to your supports and your collaborations, in 2018 we have:

  • built a three-bedroom house for a homeless families in Paillant-Haiti.

  • built a cistern of 15000-gallon capacity alongside of that house to catch rain water to give access to water to that family and 4 other families in the immediate vicinity during the dry season.

  • organized a training on Sexual Harassment Prevention that benefited 26 people in the RI community

  • brought leaders from Haiti to attend a training on Leadership Development and Conflict Reconciliation at the Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies of the University of Rhode Island

  • provided sponsorship to children to attend elementary school in Paillant

  • distributed backpack and school supplies to children in 2 elementary schools in Paillant

  • launched our "Goat for Education" program where we distribute 10 goats to 10 students. Our goal is to distribute 200 goats to 200 students in Paillant.

  • organized an event to celebrate the International Women Day, advocated for women's rights, DACA, End Family Separation, TPS, and other immigrants rights.

  • addressed via press conference with other Haitian leaders, President Trump's remarks about Haiti.

  • awarded 3 Haitian women in the RI Haitian Community who have worked tirelessly for last 30 years to improve life in the Haitian community here and to contribute to progress in Haiti.

In 2018, you have attended  our fundraising events:

  • Fundraiser at Texas Road House restaurant in March

  • Potluck at Gail Faris' in June

  • First Annual "Engage for Change" Gala in August that was sold out. (Please mark your calendar for our 2nd gala, it will take place on Friday August 23rd, 2019).

  • Fundraiser at Alex and Ani in December.

What we have done so far is not the big change yet, but it is a good sign that indicates we are moving toward the right direction. Above all, we have encouraged community engagement where local leaders are the instigators of the change they want to see in their area. You help us to support them financially, but they are the real game changer who make the sustainable impact in their community. I'd like to ask you also to keep them in your prayers as we are getting into 2019.

I count on your continued support in 2019. In the meantime, I wish you and your family a happy new year filled with health, happiness and peace.
