A successful training on Sexual harassment prevention

Hope and Change for Haiti organized for the community an educational training on sexual harassment prevention this past Saturday November 24, 2018 to provide a clear understanding of sexual harassment and the strategy to apply to prevent it. Twenty five people have attended and received a certificate of completion for this training. Indeed, this event was held in the wake of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25th where the United Nations (UN), along with organizations, activists around the world are met to discuss better strategy to end violence against women. At Hope and Change, we believe that education is the best tools to help in ending violence, particularly sexual harassment.

At the end of this training, 25 participants have committed to work in ending sexual harassment. They have pledged to name it, claim it and stop it. They are determined to be active bystander in their surroundings. I want to sincerely thank our facilitators Lisa Hoopis from the Women Center at Rhode Island College and Malaysia King from Sojourner House who accepted to facilitate this training on a Saturday after Thanksgiving. Our gratitude goes to Laura Dussault, a domestic violence survivor, who shared her story with the participants. Finally, we greatly thank the participants who believe that together we can make a difference.
